BLYDE WILDLIFE ESTATE    GENERAL INFORMATION

Blyde Wildlife Estate is located only 15min away from Hoedspruit Town. The estate is 380ha in extent with 154 full title stands average approximately 4000sqm each. Each property owner is a co-owner of the wilderness area through membership of the Home Owners Association. This family-friendly estate is situated at the foot of the majestic and breath-taking Drakensberg mountain range offering approximately five kilometers of Blyde river frontage and beautiful riverine woodland areas.  

 

Wildlife on the estate includes blue wildebeest, waterbuck, impala, giraffe, zebra, to name a few, as well as a variety of bird species. The estate also enjoys the convenience of an on-site clubhouse, restaurant, gym, tennis courts, and wellness centre.

Security installations include 24-hour access control, a security control room, biometric access control, and permit controlled for day visitors and guests. The infrastructure is modern without disturbing the natural wildlife surroundings, and the main concrete roads are well-marked.

A well established Home Owners Association ensures a safe environment and a pleasant lifestyle with the implementation of rules and regulations. The objective is to provide a high-quality rural lifestyle for residents within this natural wildlife estate

 

Some of the architectural guidelines and rules include, and in no particular order:

  • Thatch roofs as well as Harvey Tiles and Chromadeck roofing is allowed provided that they match thatching colour tones.

  • The exterior of all buildings must either be constructed of natural, unpainted stone or plastered and painted with the same product and colour which was used for the outside finish of the entrance gate.

  • Houses the size of less than 100sqm will not be approved.

  • The design and prescribed materials for the construction of the house must be of such a nature that it will blend in with the existing structures on the estate and with the natural surroundings.

  • Nobody except on instruction of the HOA may chase, hunt, molest or in any way interfere with the indigenous wildlife of the estate. Fishing will be allowed in the designated areas only. 

  • Strictly prohibited is the collection or taking of anything from the estate, including wood, flora, fauna, or the remains of fauna.

  • All pets must be pre-approved in writing, and only small breed cats and dogs are allowed - a maximum of two per household.

  • Commercial activity is not allowed.

  • Short term rentals are not permitted, but owners are allowed to rent out for a minimum of one month.
